91 Lincoln car question
Digital speedometer and odometer, looking straight at it says all 8s, you have to view a angle to see the right numbers, is this the lcd screen that is bad??

Re: 91 Lincoln car question
Back in that time frame I bought a 1991 Mercury Cougar.
I was warned at the time to avoid the digital dashes, as they all went bad. Don't know if you have the same thing or not. But.... |
Re: 91 Lincoln car question
I think its just a very lucky car with chinese parts perhap. Does it say 888? You could sell it on e-bay for a song IMO.

Re: 91 Lincoln car question
It's been my experience that most dashes are turned in for a refurb unit at a repair depot by the manufacturers. They especially want to transfer the odometer info to the replacement unit. Car out of service for a week or more.
It is rarely inexpensive. Better try your local (net connected) parts yard. |
Re: 91 Lincoln car question
Oh how I miss the needle/analog. If it was me I'd replace the lcd then move up to the rest depending upon what whole new gauge setup costs, but then I usually end up buying to whole shebang at price then some only after I worked my self up to it. Yup, I start at what's cheepest and consider my luck then decide; wish I had better news for you. Friggin' junk yard dealers, ain't got c**p but when they do they charge new price and your already there, dealers! I'm ready, got a '79caddy rear & drive to drop into my resto just wish I'd bought the whole damn thing for a song, 'least I'd have heavy metals. Word of advice, don't secnd guess yourself and go for it; never look back!
